IT'S A GIRL!!!

So lots of people guessed a little off on our poll, me and Hootie included.

There was little hesitation with the Dr. today when he said, "Well the one thing SHE doesn't have is her Father's penis." That's one way to say it. But it was pretty funny. I caught right on, it took Hoot a second, he was listening for the words boy or girl, then had to stop and think why the Doc was referencing his parts. Pretty funny!

We are excited, and Hootie's adjusting. He thought he'd throw a boy. Guess our little girl will help out on the ranch, and be a little Cowgirl!

But bring on the pink! Thanks for all the comments, congrats, support, and votes on our poll. It was fun to have you all play along!!!

Tribute to my dear wife and baby "Carl!"

Chrissi,

Thanks for telling me you’re pregnant! I had no idea. I hope it comes out with blonde hair and blue eyes! J/K. Chrissi will be a great mother. She says so many good things about me, and I hardly ever get on this blog thing. It just seems like it's not up my alley, and I am so busy taking care of my clients and things on the ranch that I fail to appreciate her kind words, thoughts, and actions to keep all of our friends on this blog updated.

Chrissi says I'm a hard worker, but she is equally or more of a worker than I. She holds our family together. I am hard to deal with on quite a number of issues, and she knows how to handle me. She will go work with me on the ranch no matter what time, place, or elements. Chrissi will go with me on the golf cart, and she has no idea how bad I really am, but will tell me what great form I have, and how great my shot was. She also magnifies her calling with the old ladies at church too. (No offense relief society ladies!) She will get cow shit on her face, and come home to be Prissy Chrissi. Her eyes aren't blue, but they are beautiful none the less. Her favorite food is potato soup, and I am not sure what her favorite color is. She loves to relax and watch a good movie or read a book. She is happiest when she is around our families. She also likes to go snowmobiling and boating in the summer. Chrissi is a joy to be around, and will adapt to any personality or circumstance we run into.

I thought it was tacky to say, but she is truly my best friend. I looked at a picture the other day of her on the wall, and thought what did I do to deserve her. I can’t wait till she gets home from her trip. She is so thoughtful, loving, caring, and I can’t believe she is mine. I know that will translate to our new baby "Carl". Hopefully he will come out with a few of my selected good traits, and be full of my awesome wife's traits. If he can come out 80% Chrissi and 20% Hootie that would be fine by me. He might have a chance. If it's not a he, her name will be Carlita (If it comes out with black hair referring to comment above), or perhaps Carli. We're really going for the Carl "feel". Chrissi doesn’t agree with this idea! I am slightly nervous and naive when it comes to kids, but if I can be half the man my Dad and Grandpa were, I will be just fine. I'm going to try to grow up a little more, and be a real man.

Plenty of contention and problems persist in the world today, but when we truly reflect on our blessings, family, and what we have, we realize just how good we have it, and baby I have it good! I hope I can be worthy to receive all the blessings I am entitled to, as well to all of you. You probably won't hear back from me on the blog for awhile, but I will try to be better. Facebook is out of the question, but just know I value all of your friendships. Now I must get back to work. The market has had a hell of a rally this week, and I have a meeting with my client and their attorney later on today so I must run. –Dusty “Hootie” Roche

P.S.- I think this picture reveals that I could potentially be 80% gay and 20% straight!

Sometimes things go according to "The Plan"...

First, I'm happy to say that another one of the nasty, cold months has passed us by. With that, usually comes the shedding of what I lovingly refer to as my "February Fat", not so this year. I get to keep gaining...

We have finally started on the creating a family, thing. And things worked fast, thank goodness. If you know me and Hootie well, everything always is planned out. ( I worry that deviating from said "plans" might make Hootie's head EXPLODE!) It was almost a running joke with some of my friends, we had a plan/ timeline for when we would get married, and then when we would start a family. So much for being spontaneous :)

Well, the kid plan has been put into action, and we are thrilled. I am almost 14 weeks along, (and my work uniform still fits, good), out of the first trimester, and due on September 7th. I am looking forward to spending my summer as a beached whale, I have already found someone to hold my umbrella at a pool through the summer (Thanks Bay).

I have been lucky to feel pretty good. I do get wiped out, dog tired, but 4 am wake up calls with 12-14 hours/day of flying doesn't really help that. I will probably try to fly till June, depending on how I look and feel. (I don't like seeing flight attendants in their 8th month, who look like they just might give birth on the airplane, so that won't be me.) Being on the plane in the summer can be miserable and hot, add to that pregnant, polyester, and pantyhose, and I think I'll opt out. Anyway, just an update on the work status, since that's what everyone asks me about.

Hootie has a nickname for our child, which you may have figured out if you look at my Facebook. I'm not crazy about it, but it's funny, and well- it's kinda stuck. It may pose a problem if we are having a girl, the name won't work. (Which it won't be our kids given name anyway.)

So I guess I'm kinda rambling, but I thought I would officially share our news, which many of you already knew. We are thrilled, excited, nervous, and feel very blessed.

And yes, we will find out what we are having... the suspense is more than we want, and frankly I just don't like yellow and green enough to not find out. Fill out the poll on the side, do you think the first "Roche Baby" will be a boy or girl. We hope to find out March 23rd.

P.S. I find the baby ticker things slightly creepy, but I'll probably still fall victim to posting one sooner or later. I just have to wait till it says less than 150 days, or I might go crazy seeing it.
